District Sports is pleased to be using the turf facility at the Georgetown Day School Lower School Campus on MacAurthur Boulevard in Upper NW DC. Registration for this 9v9 coed Recreational soccer league is now available.

Street Soccer USA Cup next weekend!

The 2010 Street Soccer USA (SSUSA) Cup will be held once again at the Washington Kastles Team Tennis Stadium in Downtown Washington, DC.

This year 200 players, lfrom 18 cities across the country will take part in the tournament. At the culmination of the tournament, the national men's and women's teams will be chosen to represent the United States at the Homeless World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Community open cup:

As part of SSUSA, Street Soccer USA will be holding a benefit Open Cup for community soccer players. Games are to be played 7/30 through 8/1 in 4 different blocks.

Team District Sports reaches semi- finals of DC SCORES Cup!

On Saturday July 10th, Team District Sports participated in the Annual DC SCORES Cup at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Gaithersburg, MD. With a mix of lights- out goal keeping, inventive tactics and flat-out skill the team advanced to the Semi-final round where it succumbed to the eventual tournament champions. In the run- up to the semi-final, District Sports was an extremely disciplied and cohesive side, who confidently defeated 3 teams- including defending champions Marriott in an epic 9 round penalty shootup.

Special thanks goes out to the follks at DC Scores who once again put on a fantastic event. DC SCORES is an after school soccer and literacy non-profit serving children in the DC Public Schools.  Each year the SCORES Cup serves as one of the organization's largest fund-raising events.

Soccer in the Circle this Saturday

District Sports is proud to be a sponsor of Soccer in the Circle! Look for the District Sports banner and join us at our booth!

Soccer in the Circle is set to kick off on June 12 with three World Cup 1st round matches shown on two big screens inside Dupont Circle park. The event also features sponsors' booths, tables and special performances and appearances in between the matches (see below).

Match schedule:

South Korea v Greece, 7:30am kickoff
Argentina v Nigeria, 10am kickoff
and the MAIN event:
USA VS ENGLAND, 2:30pm kickoff

For food and drinks, please bring your own or visit the many restaurants and shops in the neighborhood, which will be happy to serve you! Please note: the National Park Service does not allow alcohol inside the park and does not permit the organizers to sell any food or drinks there.

Watch out for an appearance by U.S. soccer legend Eddie Pope. And a public performance of the Diski Dance by 97 Fusion!

DC SCORES to hold benefit soccer tournament

DC Scores, an after school program serving over 700 public and public Charter school students in the District, will be holding its Scores Cup- a benefit recreational soccer tournament- July 10th at the Maryland Soccer Plex.

Summer Cardozo 7v7 league

Games to be played  largely on Wednesday and Thursday evenings beginning June 16th.

Games played 6:30 to 10:30

Registration opens on May 27th. 

$85 Individual, $1225 Teams.

Due to lack of facility access during the month of August games will be played following a condensed schedule during the month of July. 

The exact game schedule will be as follows:

Wednesday (with a few non- wed games) night league: 6/16, 6/23,  6/30, 7/7, 7/13, 7/14, 7/19, 7/21- Playoff 7/28 and 7/29
Thursday (with a few non- thurs games) night league: 6/17, 6/24, 7/1, 7/6, 7/8, 7/15, 7/20, 7/22-Playoff 7/28 and 7/29

Both Wednesday and Thursday leagues to be divided into two divisions- division 1 and division 2.

Division 1 is meant for the more experienced players who are looking for more competitive games. If you are not an experienced player or a team with a lot of experience do not register for division 1.
